Rebuilding a property-management application

Rebuilding an existing application across frontend, backend, and AWS deployment, with a focus on completing broken workflows.

React, TypeScript, AWS Amplify, Docker, Elastic Beanstalk, DynamoDB

Context

The existing property-management application had incomplete workflows, including tenant rent payments and nonfunctional Settings navigation.

My contribution

I rebuilt the frontend and backend and handled deployment. My responsibilities covered application implementation and AWS infrastructure cleanup.

Completed workflows

While rebuilding the application, I noticed that tenant rent payments did not work in the old site, even after landlords configured how to receive payments. I corrected the backend payment workflow in the replacement application as part of the rebuild. I also replaced the nonfunctional Settings navigation.

Infrastructure

The application uses an AWS Amplify frontend, a Docker-based backend on Elastic Beanstalk, and DynamoDB for data storage. I removed legacy infrastructure and changed the AWS support plan as part of the cleanup.

Development approach

I used AI-assisted development during the rebuild. As I implemented the replacement application, I identified gaps in the old site's behavior, including the rent-payment workflow, and addressed them in the new implementation.
